Devin and Barbarian were on a tear throughout the end
of their 2011 competition year. Beginning in Garden City, Kansas for
Checkered Flag Productions, Devin drove his way to victory over names
including Rock Star and AMSOIL Shock Therapy. Friday night was all Kaboom
Motorsports as Devin swept the wheelie, racing, and freestyle competitions
with his patented, tailgate ripping wheelies! Saturday was more of the
same, starting the night with a wheelie contest win and finishing strong
in racing and freestyle.
The Kaboom Motorsports Team has been hard at work both on and off the track in the past month. After a stellar first half of 2011, Devin and Barbarian continued the trend by dominating their regular stop in Austin, Texas at Texas Heatwave. Devin wowed the crowd with wheelies and insane momentum to earn top honors. A big thanks to everyone with Texas Heatwave for having us out again this year.
The next stop on tour would take Devin to North Platte, Nebraska for a MEGA Promotions Tour event against the likes of stiff competition including Rammunition and Razin Kane. To kick the night off, Devin walked Barbarian on its tailgate right into the wheelie contest winner circle. Devin also made the final round of racing, earning runner up honors to the big Dodge. Unfortunately, Barbarian would bust an axle in the finals and be forced to run in two wheel drive for freestyle. Despite the breakage, Devin put on a show for the Nebraska fans with a respectable freestyle run.
From Nebraska, it was on to Sedalia, Missouri for good friend Brad Darnell's Monster Truck Racing Super Series tour event at the Missouri State Fair. After impressive runner up finishes to legendary Dan Runte in Bigfoot in the wheelie contest and racing, Devin laid it all out in freestyle with nice air and crazy momentum, ultimately earning him the freestyle win.
In between each of these shows, there was no rest for the weary as Devin is working behind the scenes on the a new Barbarian chassis! The truck is well under construction, including transfer case mounts and a wheelie bar (which will definitely be used frequently). Stay tuned to the site for build updates and show results from Garden City, Kansas and more!
Devin and Barbarian continue their dominance on into
their summer schedule! June 17th-18th marked the return of the annual
O’Reilly Auto Parts Outlaw Nationals to Devin’s hometown of Miami,
Oklahoma. John Darnell and crew at MAP Motorsports put together the
toughest lineup to ever hit Miami, including Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter
and 2011 Monster Jam Freestyle Champion Jim Koehler in Avenger for the
Kaboom Motorsports team to compete against. Top notch competition or not,
Devin announced his presence in the wheelie contest by standing the truck
vertical twice, including a slow rollover. The hometown fans went nuts as
Devin dominated Friday’s wheelie contest. After finishing 2nd place in
racing to Creten in Bounty Hunter, Devin put on an all-out air assault in
freestyle, launching over the double bus stack and getting massive air off
of the double stacked cars. For the second time on Friday, Devin knocked
off some of the sport of monster truck racing’s best independent drivers
and trucks by winning freestyle! Saturday was more of the same as Devin
held his own in all competitions and finished in the top 2 spots in all
competitions! Check out our
Photos section for over 40+ pictures from the weekend courtesy of Ross

Devin and Barbarian took a few days to regroup, but there was no rest for the wicked as the team packed up and headed to St. Cloud, Minnesota to compete in the Monster Truck Summer Meltdown. Again, Devin would have no easy task competing against the likes of Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter, Joe Sylvester in Bad Habit, and hometown hero Kaila Savage in her Heartbreaker truck. Friday night started strong as Devin planted Barbarian vertical, dragging the wheelie bar across the roofs of the cars and walking Barbarian into a solid finish in the wheelie contest. After a runner up finish to Creten in Bounty Hunter in racing, Devin put on a clinic in freestyle, finishing just behind Bounty Hunter at the end of the night. Saturday’s show began with an insane wheelie contest from all competitors, but it was Devin putting Barbarian nose high to take the win. After a formidable effort in racing, Devin was out to prove that he was one of the top freestylers in the industry. At the end of the run, Devin launched Barbarian off the 14 foot dirt ramp, ultimately coming down hard and breaking the rear, axle housing in half!
The team endured the haul back to the shop and is currently in the process of repairing the rear axle. In no time, the team will be ready for battle at their next show. Stay tuned to the site for Schedule updates and results from the next round of shows!
Kaboom Motorsports has been on fire in 2011 and continue to dominate their summer schedule! After a brief stint at the shop, Devin and Barbarian were ready for battle as they arrived in Muskogee, Oklahoma for their friends at Over The Top Motorsports. Despite the muddy conditions at Thunderbird Speedway, Devin managed to point the nose of the Barbarian vertical in the wheelie contest, ultimately earning a respectable 2nd place finish to Nick Owens in the Stone Crusher machine. After a solid racing performance, Devin was poised to put on a show for the Oklahoma fans. Right off the bat, Devin launched Barbarian off the car stacks and was beginning to put together a great run. Unfortunately, the third member in the front axle gave way, leaving Barbarian with only two wheel drive and ending the run early.
After a nice Memorial Day Weekend at home, the team competed at one of our favorite venues, Parsons Stadium in Springdale, Arkansas. Devin and Barbarian are well known in Springdale and the fans were solidly behind the team all weekend as Devin threw down with Jerry Perry in Brute Force. Devin would pilot Barbarian to the wheelie win, but a brake issue would cost the team a shot at the straight line racing victory. Devin would rebound with a big win in Chicago-style racing and was going all out in freestyle when a sway bar broke, ending the run early. Saturday would see dominant runs from Devin, as he ran away with the wheelie contest, slamming the wheelie bar into the ground past the cars on one attempt, and walking it on one wheel in the other. After sweeping the racing events, Devin would proceed to end the night with an incredible freestyle performance, but the crowd awarded the win to Jerry Perry after he rolled Brute Force on its lid. A big thanks to Brad Darnell and all the great Springdale fans for a great weekend! Check out our Photos section for lots of pictures from the weekend courtesy of Ross Bonar and TheMonsterBlog.com.
After a few days at the shop, including changing from the Barbarian body to Alter Ego, Devin made the trip to Elko, Minnesota for a freestyle exhibition with Dawn Creten in Scarlet Bandit. Between both freestyle passes, Devin managed to muster some impressive leaps on the pre-crushed car sets and ended the night with a sick cyclone donut on the front stretch of Elko Speedway!
There was no rest for the wicked as it was time to load Alter Ego into the trailer and make the overnight drive to Grain Valley, Mo. for Monsters in the Valley at Valley Speedway. A stellar, 4 truck lineup including Bounty Hunter, Scarlet Bandit, and Stone Crusher would make the road to victory extremely tough for Devin and Alter Ego. Devin kicked off the show with his famous vertical wheel stands, winning the wheelie contest handily. It was on to racing as Alter Ego made the final round against Mike Harper’s Bounty Hunter. The final match came down to the wire, but it was Bounty Hunter just edging Devin. To end the show, Devin laid down a textbook, Kaboom Motorsports run with intense wheelies, massive leaps, and sick donuts to finish his run.
Devin and Barbarian will focus their efforts just down the road at their hometown show in Miami, Oklahoma. This year, John Darnell and the MAP Motorsports crew have concocted arguably the best lineup of monsters to ever hit Miami, including World Finals freestyle champion Jim Koehler in Avenger, Bounty Hunter, and many more. If you are anywhere in the Miami area, you definitely won’t want to miss it as Devin and Barbarian will attempt to defend their hometown title!
If all the hype of a hometown event wasn’t enough, the team has recently added Schaefer Oil as a team sponsor and is already in the construction stages of a brand new, Kaboom Motorsports chassis!
Stay tuned to the site for updates from Miami and new construction pictures as they happen!
Devin Jones and Barbarian are the 2011 CFP Winter National Champions! The chase for the championship came down to the final event in Pocatello, Idaho at the ISU Holt Arena. Going into the event, it was Barbarian sitting #1, with Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy and Bill Payne’s Rockstar hot on his heels. The night started off strong as Devin piloted Barbarian around the tricky, J-course to earn top qualifying honors. Racing would see Devin bobble in the turn against Bill Payne and Rockstar, ultimately giving him 3rd place in the first competition for the night.
It all came down to the final event of the evening: freestyle. Bigfoot was knocked out of competition in the racing portion of the show, so the championship would either be earned by Bill in Rockstar or Devin in Barbarian. Devin roared out onto the track and laid down a classic, Barbarian freestyle run with massive sky wheelies, slap wheelies, and even a cross thread on the bus stack that ended Devin’s run on his head in the mud pit! Anxiety set in as Payne roared to the track and laid down a sick slap wheelie to start his run. Rockstar’s second hit was fatal to his hopes of winning as Bill rolled over only 2 hits into freestyle, ultimately making the Kaboom Motorsports team the CFP Champion for the 2011 year!
After a quick trip home to regroup, Devin loaded up and made the short drive to Ft. Smith, Arkansas for Brad Darnell and the Monster Truck Racing Super Series. Against competition including the always tough Doug Noelke in Tailgator and Dale Gerding in Big Dawg, Devin knew he would have to be on his game. Friday night’s competition started off strong as Devin vaulted Barbarian vertical not once, but twice much to the roaring approval of the Ft. Smith fans! Unfortunately, a broken distributor shaft would sideline Devin for the evening and result in an all-night drive to acquire parts for Saturday’s show.
Devin was no worse for wear as the truck was finished by noon on Saturday and Barbarian was again ready for battle. The fans in Ft. Smith were in for a show on Saturday as it was Devin dominating the night’s competitions, winning the wheelie contest, Chicago-style racing bracket, and freestyle competition with a high-energy, air-filled run.
The Kaboom Team will take a much needed 2 weeks off in preparation for the beginning of the summer tour that’s filling up fast! Devin and Barbarian will be competing just a few hours south on May 21 in Muskogee, Oklahoma then will make the overnight drive to Grain Valley, MO for a Sunday show on May 22. If you’re in the area, we encourage you to come out and say hi and enjoy our tour of domination. Stay tuned to www.Barbarian4x4.com for updates and check out our Schedule page to see when Devin and Barbarian will do battle in a town near you!
Going into the CFP Championship race in Pocatello, Idaho, Devin and Barbarian sit #1 in points! With only two events left in the regular season, Devin knew consistency and strong showings were key. Beginning in Dodge City, Kansas’ brand new United Wireless Arena, Devin finished in the top 3 in both the wheelie competition and racing and dominated the freestyle contest! This was no easy task, as CFP assembled arguably the toughest lineup all year at one of their events, including names like Bigfoot Bad Boy, Rockstar, and Bounty Hunter! Saturday night started off with Barbarian sitting vertical and staring at the rafters, ultimately earning him the wheelie contest win. To finish the night, Devin again finished in the top half of both the racing and freestyle contest to further pad his points lead.
Devin and Barbarian announced their presence in Hobbs, New Mexico and again proved they are one of the top independent teams in the monster truck industry! With only one show for the weekend (Saturday Night), Devin set Barbarian on kill and would make very impressive showings in all competitions. At the end of the weekend, consistency was key as solid showings in the wheelie, racing, and freestyle competitions earned Devin a plethora of vital points for his chase towards the 2011 CFP Points Championship. When the weekend was over and the CFP tallied the points, it is Devin and Barbarian currently sitting #1 in points with Pocatello only a few short weeks away!
The team is in Texas enjoying a much needed week to regroup and to regain focus. Devin heads to Dodge City, Kansas this coming weekend to compete at the first ever monster truck event to be held in the brand new Ford County Events Center with their friends at CFP. The following week, the team travels a short distance to Enid, Oklahoma against a tough lineup to defend his #1 spot. Stay tuned to the Kaboom Motorsports team and www.Barbarian4x4.com for updates on the points chase!
Devin and Barbarian continued their dominance on the MAP Motorsports Texas Tour in Odessa, Austin, and Waco! Beginning in Austin, Devin piloted Barbarian to a Friday night wheelie contest win and runner up finishes in both racing and freestyle to high-flying rookie J.R. McNeal in Razin Kane. Saturday would be more of the same as Devin would plant the truck vertical in the wheelie contest, earning a runner up finish, and was just edged at the line in the racing finals. To end the weekend, Devin launched Barbarian across the Travis County Expo Center for the freestyle win on Saturday night.
The following weekend, the team would head to Odessa, Texas’ Ector County Coliseum. Both Friday and Saturday night started out with huge wheel stands to earn the wheelie contest wins and respectable, runner-up finishes in both racing and freestyle to hometown hero Jerry Perry in the Brute Force truck to wrap up the weekend. It was on to Waco, Texas for the last weekend of the tour and Kaboom Motorsports made it count. After the dust settled, Devin had swept both Friday and Saturday night racing competitions and finished the weekend with a freestyle victory on Saturday night.
The team is regrouping before making the trek across Texas to their next show in Hobbs, New Mexico with their friends at CFP. The weeks following sees the team head home for a week of repairs and tuning before heading to Dodge City, Kansas to do battle. Stay tuned to the website for updates from the team in the coming weeks.
Kaboom Motorsports is on a mission in 2011. Beginning in Belton, Texas, Barbarian would do battle against some of the superstars in monster trucks including Bigfoot and Bounty Hunter. Saturday started off with a bang as Devin planted Barbarian vertical and walked the truck off the cars to dominate the wheelie contest. Racing would get intense as it was Devin taking on the legendary Eric Tack in Bigfoot in the finals. As the truck came over the last set of cars, the rear tires caught, sending Barbarian end over end and stopping safely just short of the wall! The truck was no worse for wear as Devin removed body panels and came back for freestyle, launching Barbarian off of the FMX hill and claiming the freestyle win!
The team then ventured north to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to compete on a tricky, concrete track. Devin put on an impressive showing in the small confines of the Sioux Falls Civic Center with high energy runs. At the end of the weekend, it was Barbarian winning 50% of the weekends competitions, including a clean sweep of the wheelie contests on both Friday and Saturday and a freestyle win on Friday night. Next, it was on to Grand Island, Nebraska for their friends at CFP where Devin dominated Friday’s wheelie contest and freestyle competition on Friday and made an impressive showing on Saturday, showcasing why Kaboom Motorsports is one of the top independent teams in monster trucks!
Devin and Barbarian will enjoy a few days at the shop before traveling to Austin, Texas for good friend John Darnell and MAP Motorsports. This weekend marks the beginning of a 3 week, Texas tour that pits Barbarian against some tough competition. Stay tuned to the website for results in the coming weeks and be sure to check out our shows in Austin, Odessa, and Waco, Texas!
Kaboom Motorsports is on a hot streak starting the 2011 season! Right out of the gate at the Monster Nation show in Southaven, Mississippi, Devin boasted a strong showing in the wheelie contest, a runner up finish to the always competitive Tailgator truck in racing, and earned first place in freestyle! Saturday night was more of the same as Devin rocketed Barbarian into the top half of the wheelie contest. In racing, Devin stayed focused and smooth and dominated the competition in the Chicago Style racing portion of the show. In the last event of the weekend, Devin launched Barbarian across the floor of the Desoto Civic Center but fell just short of good friend and competitor “Madman” Mike Hawkins in Equalizer who successfully completed a backflip as part of his freestyle run. Congrats to Mike and team for their accomplishment!
The team then regrouped and competed again with their friends at Monster Nation in Bossier City, Louisiana’s Centurytel Center this past weekend. Right out of the gate, Devin stood Barbarian vertical in the wheelie contest, however falling just short of Equalizer and earning a strong second place finish. After a formidable finish in racing, Devin raised the bar in freestyle with huge airshots and technical walking wheelies on the car sets to earn the Freestyle title for Friday night. Saturday’s show saw Devin finish in the top 3 in wheelie, racing, and freestyle competitions, putting him in a great position for the 2011 Monster Nation series titles.
After a great first two weeks with their friends at Monster Nation, Devin and Barbarian will head to Belton, Texas for Checkered Flag Productions to begin their title hunt for the 2011 CFP points championship. Looking back to last season, Devin finished in 3rd place in the overall points chase and is set on earning a title this year! Check back in a few weeks for results from Belton and Sioux Falls, South Dakota the following week, and stop by our Photos section to see a big gallery of shots from the Bossier City event courtesy of our friends at TheMonsterBlog.com.
Kaboom Motorsports has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2011 season. Devin has spent the last few weeks inspecting and making updates to the Barbarian truck, including a brand new motor, transmission, and new body and wrap. The team will be competing with their friends at Checkered Flag Productions for the 2011 Checkered Flag Point Series title. In 2010, Devin competed in 16 events on the CFP tour and earned a very solid 3rd place finish behind the legendary Bigfoot and hard charging Rockstar truck. In addition, Kaboom Motorsports will be competing with their friends with Monster Nation and John Darnell with MAP Motorsports to round out the first quarter.
As the season comes to a close, Devin would like to thank Brothers Racing bodies for producing a durable and quality fiberglass body that Devin battle tests weekly. For those looking for professional and affordable fiberglass Ford Superduty truck bodies, contact Brothers racing bodies.
Furthermore, Devin would like to thank his father, Mark for his support and for building a transmission that will hold up to the abuse Devin puts it through as well as the Darnell family for their support and friendship.
To all the fans: Thank you for supporting Kaboom Motorsports and we hope to see you in 2011. Visit our Schedule page and see when Devin and Barbarian will be invading your city this winter!
Devin Jones and Barbarian rolled into Osborne, Missouri looking to continue the hot streak they've been riding throughout the summer tour. After a short stint at the shop and installing a front locker, Barbarian was ready for battle as it finished in the top half of wheelie, racing, and freestyle competition brackets against fierce competitors including former World Freestyle Champion Jim Koehler in Avenger and Chris Bergeron’s Brutus truck. The entire event and all of Devin's runs can be watched on TMB TV's MT Unlimited program by clicking here - thanks to Colby Marshall for the great footage of the truck in action!
The Kaboom Motorsports team then moved onto Kilgore, Texas with their friends at Checkered Flag Productions where Devin again showed why he is one of the best independent drivers in the world of monster trucks by placing Barbarian in the final round in racing and placing second in freestyle to 2011 World Finalist Jon Zimmer in the Amsoil Shock Therapy. An exhibition at Elko Speedways “Night of Destruction” in Elko, Minnesota with Jimmy Creten’s Bounty Hunter would end the 2010 season on a strong note after wowing the crowd with intense, smoky cyclone donuts and huge leaps.
The team is enjoying some time off the road and is in the process of getting the Barbarian truck battle ready for the 2011 Winter season. Check out the Schedule page for our 2011 schedule and see when Barbarian will invade your city!
Kaboom Motorsports has been red hot in the month of August. Beginning in Woodward, Oklahoma with their friends at CFP, Devin made it all the way to the final round of racing and dominated the freestyle competition with a huge air assault that left the Oklahoma fans in awe. After the successful night, Barbarian was loaded up in one piece and it was off to Lincoln, Nebraska. Over the course of the weekend, Devin competed alongside former World Freestyle Champion Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter and dominated Saturday Night’s racing competition and wowed the crowd with technical, slap wheelies and massive air in freestyle.
After 2 successful weeks in a row, Devin toted the team just down the road in North Platte, Nebraska to continue his hot streak as he stuck Barbarian perfectly vertical in the wheelie contest to earn the win. After a controversial final round racing call that left Barbarian runner up to Bounty Hunter, Devin made a point to please the fans, again with huge leaps and insane momentum between obstacles. With a quick stop in Enid, Oklahoma for an exhibition run, the team rounded out August in Garden City, Kansas. Making the final round both nights in the racing competition, Devin highlighted the weekend by launching Barbarian into orbit. The consequences were unfortunate, however, as the full force of the landing was on the right side of the truck, ultimately resulting in major cradle and chassis damage to the truck.
After pure determination to fulfill his obligations, Devin and the Barbarian are back at 100% and head north to Osborn, Missouri to compete in the show on September 11th. If you’re in the area, come say “hey” and check out the “Air Show” put on by Kaboom Motorsports. See ya there!
After a relaxing few weeks, Kaboom Motorsports headed back on the road for the second stretch of their summer tour. The first stop would take the team to Grain Valley, Mo. At Valley Speedway. With names like Bounty Hunter, Avenger, and Brutus, Devin knew he had to step his game up to claim a win. The night began with the wheelie contest as the Barbarian was blasted vertical, ultimately leading to the wheelie victory. After making it to the semi final round, a small bobble led to an early exit from the racing bracket courtesy of the always tough Chris Bergeron in Brutus. Devin was determined to put on a show in freestyle, however, pesky mechanical gremlins cut his run short.
Kaboom Motorsports has completed the first half of
their CFP Summer Tour with stellar performances. Devin and Barbarian
rolled into beautiful Sheridan, Wyoming with the truck at 100%. On
Saturday night, Devin dominated the racing competition beating out the
always tough Jon Zimmer in the Amsoil Shock Therapy Truck and continued on
the momentum to freestyle where he put Barbarian into orbit for the
freestyle title. After a clean sweep in Wyoming, the team moved onto a
muddy and wet Kalispell, Montana. Friday started off strong with a
formidable showing in wheelies, but was just beat out by hard charging
rookie Chris Lagana in Razin Kane. The racing portion of the show came
down to Barbarian taking on Jon Zimmer in the Amsoil truck, with Zimmer
sneaking out the win. Freestyle, however, was all Barbarian with more huge
air and slap wheelies in the muddy confines of the Flathead County
Fairgrounds. Saturday would prove to be more of the same track conditions
despite the officials best efforts. Wheelies would be a challenge as the
mud prevented hardly any traction as Devin lofted Barbarian up and over
the cars for a strong showing. Round one of racing would see Barbarian
have issues within the transfer case, only putting the truck out of
commission temporarily. After the quick fix, Devin piloted the truck to a
strong 3rd place finish. With the frustration of the minor breakage, Devin
was determined to put on a show in freestyle for the fans. A
textbook-Barbarian run would be seen by the fans in Kalispell as the truck
would be pointed vertical numerous times as well as massive jumps. A big
thanks goes out to Zane Rettew with Checkered Flag Productions for his
hospitality.
Kaboom Motorsports has literally been on a roll in the
past two weeks as they competed in both Edna, Texas and Liberal, Kansas
for Checkered Flag Productions. Devin started out the beginning of a
5-week tour with a bang in Edna, Texas at the Breckenridge Events Center.
Friday action saw Devin walk Barbarian up and over the set of cars, just
grazing the wheelie bar. In the racing portion of Friday night, Devin was
pit against the always tough Larry Swim in Bigfoot with Swim just edging
out the win in the final round. Freestyle, however, was all Barbarian as
Devin piloted the truck to another high paced and big air run. Saturday
would be more of the same as Devin opened the show with a thundering
wheelie that resulted in another wheelie contest win! Devin took the title
of freestyle champion on Saturday afternoon in a run filled with great
momentum and, after a bad bounce, Barbarian’s first rollover in quite some
time! Devin would get Barbarian back to 100% and prepare for the final
show of the weekend. Again, Devin won the wheelie contest with rollover #2
on the weekend by stabbing the wheelie bar into the dirt which twisted the
truck, sending it over on its roof. Racing would see Devin make it to the
finals, this time against Mike Hawkins and the Lucas Oil Equalizer. It was
close, but Barbarian was just edged at the finish line. Freestyle was a
different story as Devin completed the weekend sweep with big air,
wheelies, and lots of momentum. The team would head back to the shop to
replace the body and head to Liberal, Kansas for another round of CFP
action.
Kaboom Motorsports staked their claim in
hometown-Miami, Oklahoma this past weekend winning an impressive 4 of 6
competitions, including dominating both freestyle events over the course
of the weekend.
Devin and the Barbarian continued their winning ways in
2010 this past weekend at the Monster Truck Racing Super Series’ annual
show in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Welcome to the all new Barbarian4x4.com website! We started off the year with a great new look on the truck and we've now completed a top to bottom re-design of the website to match. We had a great first quarter finishing third in the CFP points and we're gearing up for an exciting summer. Check out the Schedule page to see where Devin and Barbarian are headed next and stay tuned for more updates!
The Monster Truck Winter Nationals season is in the books and Devin brought home 3rd place in the overall points after a hard fought championship battle in Pocatello. The night started with Devin and Barbarian having a slim, outside shot at overtaking both Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy and Bill Payne in the Rock Star and winning the title. That task wasn't made easier after the wheelie contest, where Devin attacked the ramped van stack and was unable to get the truck to go vertical. Fortunes would change in racing however, as Devin stepped up with a huge first round win over Larry Swim! This race could have had huge championship implications had Larry been eliminated in round one, but all trucks were brought back for round two. Devin took out Donald Epidendio in California Kid in round two, but would meet Swim once again in the semi-finals, this time falling to Bigfoot. Swim would go on to win in the finals over Bounty Hunter clinching the championship, while Devin would defeat Hot Tamale for third overall in racing. In freestyle, Darren Migues laid down a huge run in Bounty Hunter for a score of 57 out of 60. Devin took Barbarian to the floor and did an amazing job but would fall one point short of the lead. Bill Payne ended up winning the freestyle with Barbarian ending up third overall and third in the final point standings. A big thanks to everyone with CFP for making us a regular here on the 2010 tour, we greatly enjoyed chasing down a points title for the first time and we're looking forward to a great summer with CFP as well. Check out below for some video highlights from the event, thanks to Auz Grahams for putting it together!
The regular season on the CFP winter points tour is over and now we head to Pocatello with a shot at the 2010 Championship! Two weeks ago Devin and Barbarian were in Billings, Montana for a one night only event at the MetraPark Arena. Devin ran strong all night with a runner-up in the wheelie contest, a semi-final appearance in racing and an amazing freestyle run that would leave Barbarian on top at the end of the night! Check out below for a video of Devin taking down California Kid in Chicago-style racing.
From Billings it was off to Wenatchee, Washington for CFP's inaugural event at Town Toyota Center and the last chance to gain points on leader Larry Swim before the championship event in Pocatello. Devin did not waste the opportunity to close the gap, sweeping all three freestyle contests on the weekend and moving even closer to Swim in the overall points.
Now we've got two weeks off to prepare for the big championship event at the ISU Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho. While overcoming Larry Swim and Bill Payne to take the title is a tough task, Devin and Barbarian will be on kill and ready to give it everything they've got in a few weeks! Stay tuned for updates!
After enjoying two weeks on the O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals tour to finish up February, the last two weeks have seen Devin and Barbarian once again doing battle on the CFP championship tour. The first stop of March would be in Hobbs, New Mexico with a stellar lineup of trucks to compete against. All the championship players under one roof as Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy, Bill Payne in Rock Star and Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter were all ready to make things tough on the Kaboom Motorsports team. Devin held his own, going to the semi-finals in racing and tieing for the runner-up in freestyle, but this night would belong to Bill Payne and Rock Star.
Three more weekends left before the championship event in Pocatello, and all three would take place in the great Northwest starting in Pasco, Washington. Three big shows against Bounty Hunter, Rock Star, California Kid and Kelvin Ramer's Time Flys and Fired Up machines. Despite best efforts, Devin and Barbarian were unable to break into victory lane on the weekend, getting runner-ups in all competitions Friday night and Saturday afternoon before experiencing breakage on Saturday night. Check out the video below for some highlights from the weekend's shows.
We'll keep you posted on all the latest news and results right here on the site, just keep checking back as we finish out the CFP regular season to end the month of March. Be sure to check out the Photos page as we've received some great photos from the February Grand Forks, ND events courtesy of Josh Kirscher. Thanks to Josh for the photos, keep checking back for more news!
February 28th, 2009 - The 2010 O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals tour continued these past two weeks as Kaboom Motorsports returned for our annual stops in Odessa and Waco, Texas. This year these two shows would see the toughest lineup in years as Devin and Barbarian would continue going head to head with Bill Payne in Rock Star and Donald Epidendio in California Kid, as well as being challenged by the Crashmasters team and lead driver Jerry Perry with Brute Force .The action got started with a Friday and Saturday night event at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa. The weekend would be a great one for Devin as after some hard fought competition, Barbarian would move on to Waco having swept racing and taken the Friday night freestyle win.
This past weekend in Waco, Devin would continue running strong winning both wheelies and racing on Friday night. Despite a great freestyle that saw Devin put Barbarian on its lid, Rock Star would get the nod in freestyle. Jerry Perry in Brute Force managed to break up Devin's near sweep of racing on the MAP Motorsports tour this year as he picked up the final round win. Devin came back strong in freestyle, charging to a big win over Rock Star and Brute Force.
A big thanks to John Darnell and MAP Motorsports for once again inviting Kaboom Motor-sports to be a part of the winter O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals tour. This was Devin and Barbarian's most successful MAP tour ever as he went 5-6 in racing and 4-6 in freestyle against some tough competition. Our next event for John will be in our hometown of Miami, Oklahoma early this summer, which is always a great time. Next up on the Schedule, we return to the Checkered Flag Productions tour for the next four weeks as Devin will look to continue improving on his 4th place position in points.
February 15th, 2009 - For the first time this year, Devin Jones and Barbarian were invited to compete for the Checkered Flag Productions Monster Truck Winter Nationals series championship and that quest began in Belton, Texas. The first weekend on the CFP tour would only prove to reinforce how tough this championship chase will be as Devin battled it out with defending champ Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy and Bill Payne in Rock Star. Friday night would bring a third place in the wheelie contest and a runner-up in freestyle, while Saturday's highlight would be a semi-finals appearance in racing.
The following weekend in Sioux Falls would see much improved performance from the team as Devin began to move up in the points. Friday night brought a wheelie contest trophy and runner-ups in both racing and freestyle. Saturday however, would see Barbarian finding victory lane in a big win, winning both racing and freestyle for a huge 225 point night!
With both Bigfoot Bad Boy and Rock Star to contend with in Grand Island, Nebraska, Devin showed why Barbarian will be a contender when the championship event in Pocatello, Idaho rolls around. Devin picked up both wheelie and freestyle wins Friday night along with continued strong performances throughout the weekend.
This past weekend in Grand Forks, North Dakota would see another chance at a huge floor in 2010 for Barbarian. The Alerus Center packed the fans in and they saw a great show as Devin and Larry Swim in Bigfoot battled it out. Devin would edge out Larry in wheelies, while Larry would just beat Devin in the finals of racing. Freestyle would see a great performance from Devin as he caught some huge air. Swim couldn't equal Barbarian and Devin picked up the big freestyle win to move all the way up to 4th in the national championship battle.
Now for the next two weekends, Kaboom Motorsports will return to the O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals tour with our annual stops in Odessa and Waco, Texas. It's gonna be a great time, we'll see you in Texas!
January 21st, 2010 - The Kaboom Motorsports team began 2010 on fire. The Barbarian made its first appearance of the year in Austin, Texas on January 8th and 9th in the Travis County Expo Center. Sporting a new vinyl wrap, Devin proved that the new look for the truck was still backed by the same tenacious attitude as he swept all racing and freestyle competitions for the weekend. With only minor damage for the weekend, the Barbarian was ready for its next battle.
The following weekend, Devin continued his momentum to arguably the
biggest event in the team’s history: Monster Jam in San Antonio’s Alamo
Dome. In front of 64,000 fans and the SPEED TV cameras, Devin and
Barbarian displayed why he deserved a spot at a premiere stadium show
among names such as Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction. Showcasing the
truck’s infamous tail-dragging wheelies, Barbarian stood at the end of the
night amid the sport’s elite, finishing in fifth place out of 16
competitors. In the process, the Barbarian truck would suffer extensive
front axle damage. In an effort that required an all night repair, Devin
pieced the truck together to make another stellar showing for the Sunday
afternoon show. When the dust settled, Barbarian again proved its worth
and finished in the top half of the freestyle competition.
This week, the team has returned home to repair the battle-scarred
Barbarian in preparation for the 2010 Points Championship with Checkered
Flag Productions. The points chase begins for Kaboom Motorsports this
weekend in Belton, Texas at the Bell County Expo Center. The Barbarian
will do battle with current point’s leader Rockstar and the legendary
Bigfoot Team in wheelie, racing, and freestyle competitions. Kaboom
Motorsports would like to thank John Darnell with the MAP Motorsports and
Feld Entertainment for allowing the Barbarian to be part of their shows.
November 20th, 2009 - When we last left you, Devin and Barbarian were headed up to Elko Speedway in Minnesota to take part in a two truck freestyle exhibition with none other than Jimmy Creten and the Bounty Hunter! It was Devin's first trip up to Elko Speedway and we had a great time. Devin put on a strong effort for the fans and you can see his run in our Media section courtesy of Minnesota fan Travis Sewilo. After Elko, we would have another few weeks back at the shop before heading down to Jacksonville, Texas this past weekend for an event at Mudd Creek Off Road Park. Against a tough lineup featuring 7 other trucks including Amsoil Shock Therapy and War Wizard, Devin swept the weekend's freestyle competition! Barbarian also made it to the finals Friday against Mitch Tulachka in Geter Done, but Mitch just edged out Devin for the racing win. The next event on the schedule is an exciting one as Devin will be heading south of the border to participate in the Monster Trucks Showdown at Monterrey's huge Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey! Devin will be behind the wheel of good friend Bill Payne's California Kid monster truck taking on stars like Bill himself in Rock Star, Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Unnamed & Untamed, Nasty Boy and more! Stay tuned for a recap from that event and get ready for 2010 when Barbarian will run for the CFP Championship!
October 7th, 2009 - The Kaboom Motorsports team has been enjoying some time off since our last event back in mid-August, but this weekend we're back on the road as we head up to Elko Speedway in Minnesota for some exhibition freestyle with Bounty Hunter! If you're from the Elko, Minnesota area, be sure to come on out Saturday night and see Barbarian in action. In other news, we've firmed up our first quarter schedule for 2010 and we're proud to announce that Devin Jones will be running for the Checkered Flag Productions Monster Truck Winter Nationals Championship! We're also back with our friends on the O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals tour and tentatively booked for our first major stadium Monster Jam event. It should be one heck of a first quarter and we look forward to challenging Larry Swim with Bigfoot Bad Boy and Bill Payne with Rock Star for the 2010 CFP title! Check out our Schedule page now to see where Devin and Barbarian will be to start off 2010.
August 20th, 2009 - It's been a hot summer month of August for Kaboom Motorsports, as the team has rocked crowds from Colorado all the way down to Alabama. We started off the month in the little town of Cheyenne Wells, CO for CFP, as Devin and Barbarian would be taking on a tough lineup including Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy and Bill Payne in Rock Star. Devin put on great performances for both Saturday shows, but Bill and Larry stole the event with Larry sweeping racing and Bill sweeping wheelies and freestyle. From there it was on to an event close to home as Devin took the truck, re-bodied as Alter Ego, on down to Muskogee, Oklahoma for an exhibition freestyle at Outlaw Motor Speedway. Devin rocked and nearly rolled in 2008 at Outlaw Motor Speedway, and 2009 would be no different as he put on an awesome show for the fans with a freestyle that would have been tough to beat at any show. For two years Devin has got to perform in front of a near sellout crowd at Outlaw Motor Speedway, and we're already looking forward to next year! Check out video of Devin's run courtesy of our good friend Kaedon Berry below:
After a week off, it was back on the road as Alter Ego would be competing at East Alabama Motor Speedway's annual monster truck show in Phenix City, AL. It would be a great weekend for Devin as he swept both nights of freestyle and picked up the racing win on Saturday. Check out the Media page for more video from recent events and stay tuned for more updates as we continue a great 2009!!
July 29th, 2009 - The month of July has seen some time off for the team, as well as the return of the Alter Ego body this past weekend!! After a couple weeks off, Devin and Barbarian were back in action at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO. Devin looked to have a wheelie contest win in the bag at the Saturday night only event, but Dawn Creten just took the win in Iron Outlaw. Devin was doing great in the Chicago-style racing, when a near rollover in the semi-finals allowed Greg Adams to take the win. Freestyle however would be all Barbarian however, as Devin nailed down the win with a wild donut that would see a flat tire thrown completely off the rim!!
Then it was back to the shop to change over to the Alter Ego body for the first time since late 2008, and then on down to Austin, TX for the annual Texas Heatwave. Devin would once again dominate the field in freestyle picking up two more wins to complete the month of July. We’ve got more new Photos for you to check out from Grain Valley, as well as some new Videos on the Media page. Next weekend we’re in Cheyenne Wells, CO for CFP and then Muskogee, OK for a freestyle exhibition at Outlaw Motor Speedway. We’ve also got plenty of dates open for the rest of the year, so promoters, book Barbarian or Alter Ego while we still have availability!! Stay tuned fans, more updates coming soon!!
July 4th, 2009 - Happy 4th of July from all of us here at Kaboom Motorsports!! It’s been four shows since our last update, with the first of those coming in mid-May in Clovis, NM. We had a great time at that event competing against Bounty Hunter and Larry Quick in Ghost Ryder. We started off June by running the Monster Truck Racing Super Series in Springdale, Arkansas, one of our favorite shows. Devin had a great weekend in Springdale, sweeping not only the Chicago-style racing, but freestyle as well.
June would continue to treat Devin well for two weeks in Kansas for CFP after Devin took a week off to get married to his beautiful fiancée Tonee. Barbarian and Bigfoot Bad Boy would put on awesome performances both weekends, with Devin taking three of the four freestyles and Larry Swim the other. Dodge City in particular saw Barbarian catch some huge air over the giant bus stack. Halfway through the year Devin now has six racing victories and eleven freestyle wins!!
May 12th, 2009 - Well, the hometown show is in the books and we are proud to announce that Devin had a great weekend and brought home the Saturday night freestyle win!! Devin would turn in great wheelie and freestyle performances Friday night, but would be just edged out by Brute Force and Bounty Hunter. Saturday night however, Devin refused to lose, standing Barbarian straight up and down to take the wheelie win and absolutely going off in freestyle to defeat Bounty Hunter. We’ve got the Photos page updated with pics from the hometown event and from last month’s Wichita show, so check those out. We’ll be back with more updates, stay tuned!!
May 5th, 2009 - Hey fans, it’s time to bring you up to date on all the latest Kaboom Motorsports action!! After a couple of weeks off to start out April, Devin and Barbarian would help CFP break in a new arena in Wichita, KS. It was a great weekend for Barbarian, going up against Bigfoot, Equalizer, Hot Tamale and others, and Devin looked to have freestyle in the bag Saturday night, but Equalizer narrowly got the nod. From there it was down to Fort Smith, Arkansas with the Monster Truck Racing Super Series. Devin had a great weekend, picking up back to back straight line racing wins and also winning Chicago-style and freestyle on Saturday to complete the evening sweep. After a long winter and spring of indoor competition, Devin finally got to take Barbarian outdoors this past weekend for an exhibition freestyle event in Kilgore, Texas. Devin and Jerry Perry with Brute Force put on a great show with lots of wheelies and plenty of dusty donuts. This weekend will bring the most exciting show of each year, the hometown O’Reilly Outlaw Nationals in Miami, Oklahoma!! Stay tuned for a recap from the show!!
April 3rd, 2009 - March is in the books for Kaboom Motorsports! The Monster Truck Racing Super Series would begin the month of March at Sedalia, Missouri’s Matthewson Exhibition Center and Devin would be part of a strong lineup competing. Devin picked up his first racing win of the season Friday night, taking down the competition during Chicago-style racing. Devin looked to have freestyle in the bag, but a wild reverser and near rollover from Andy Hoffman relegated Barbarian to runner-up. Barbarian wouldn’t be topped Saturday night, grabbing incredible slap wheelies in the tiny indoor arena and taking the win.
The month’s next show would be in Corinth, MS for the Southern Truck & Bull Challenge. Barbarian and Bearfoot would battle all weekend with Devin prevailing Saturday night in freestyle. The last weekend of March would see Devin back on the Monster Jam tour, nearly taking his first Monster Jam win in the finals of racing Friday night. Check out the Photos section to see pictures from Sedalia courtesy of TheMonsterBlog.com and stay tuned for more updates!!
March 4th, 2009 - Devin Jones and Barbarian have just completed another month on the road, with February getting started out in Knoxville, TN for the team’s second Monster Jam. Devin would turn in some solid efforts all weekend despite his personal dislike of concrete events. Then it was back to the O’Reilly Outlaw Nationals series in Odessa, TX where Devin would finally get the monkey off his back and find victory lane for the first time in 2009. While Andy Hoffman and Nitemare were still tops in racing, Devin drove Barbarian to a weekend sweep of freestyle. After Odessa, it was west to Albuquerque for Monster Jam at the Tingley Coliseum. Devin put together another solid weekend performance, but was still unable to break into the Monster Jam winner’s circle. Monster Nation’s second show of the year was this past weekend in Beaumont, TX, where Devin ran against a stacked lineup including Equalizer, Hot Tamale and others. Devin ran the wheels off Barbarian, but the Equalizer team was not to be beat this weekend. Stay tuned for more updates as the month of March gets underway!!
February 2nd, 2009 - The first month of the year is in the books for Devin Jones and Barbarian!! The year started off very exciting for the Kaboom Motorsports team as Devin competed in his very first Monster Jam event at the Fedex Forum in Memphis, TN. Devin made a great showing against Charlie Pauken in Grave Digger, making the finals on Friday night and giving Charlie a run for his money in freestyle each night as well. From there it was off to Bossier City, LA where Devin would compete in the first Monster Nation event of the year. After another solid weekend, Barbarian would be on the way down to Belton, TX for the CFP Monster Truck Winter Nationals. Devin put on some great performances in Belton once more, but was unable to find victory lane. This past weekend was the first of the O’Reilly Outlaw Nationals 2009 season. Once again despite Devin’s best efforts, he would be unable to top Andy Hoffman in Nitemare, who swept the weekend. Next month will see more Monster Jam, more O’Reilly Outlaw Nationals and another Monster Nation event, stay tuned for updates!!
November 9th, 2008 - The first of our 2009 dates are now available on our Schedule page! We'll be running with some great folks once again this coming year including making our first appearances for Monster Jam with the Alter Ego body. Lots of exciting things happening here at Kaboom Motorsports, stay tuned!
September 11th, 2008 - This past weekend Kaboom Motorsports unveiled the brand new Alter Ego body at the Monster Truck Racing Super Series event at Parsons Stadium in Springdale, AR!! The new name sits on a Ford Superduty regular cab body featuring an awesome "fire and ice" styled vinyl wrap. The idea for the name Alter Ego came from family and friends of team owner Devin Jones, who say that his hard-charging driving style is the alter ego to his more reserved personality. Devin was definitely on kill in Alter Ego's debut in Springdale, taking the freestyle win Friday night with a high-energy run featuring huge slap wheelies. Saturday would see more success for Alter Ego, as Devin started the night by taking the wheelie contest victory. Devin was on his racing game as well, going to the finals in both racing competitions against tough competition. In freestyle, Devin tried out a new move to go with the new name, pulling off two nice reversers to complement big air and lots of momentum in another strong run. The next stop for the new Alter Ego will be at the Monster Truck Racing Super Series event in Ft. Smith, AR later this month. Watch for video footage from Alter Ego's debut, coming soon!
September 4th, 2008 - It's been a while since our last update, but the Kaboom Motorsports team has been rocking venues across the country over the last couple of months, including strong runs in several high profile events!! This past weekend saw Barbarian competing against six other top trucks in the Checkered Flag Productions Monster Truck Summer Slam at Northern Arkansas' Batesville Speedway. The first night of competition saw a solid performance from Devin Jones in an abbreviated freestyle, cut short by a broken belt. Night two would start with a good qualifying pass, but Devin's racing would be ended with a first round exit. Devin was determined to finish out the weekend strong, and was putting together a great freestyle run with two huge slap wheelies and big air over the bus when trouble struck. After coming over the bus carrying a lot of speed, Devin got caught in the mud and made contact with one of the track's light poles. The contact knocked lights out for half the infield. The crowd went nuts, and both CFP and track officials noted there was no way to avoid the incident given the track conditions. It could be said that Devin's Saturday night freestyle was "lights out"! TheMonsterBlog.com's TMB TV was on hand for the Batesville event, so check out their episode to see all the action and an interview with Devin Jones where plans for a new identity for Kaboom Motorsports are revealed.
The previous weekend saw Barbarian invited back for another appearance at the annual I-70 Speedway Monstergeddon event. Devin went out first for freestyle and, after exiting in the first round of racing, was determined to put on a show. There wasn't much to work with in freestyle, so Devin kept up lots of momentum and finished with a wild cyclone in the best run of the evening.
August 16th saw Barbarian competing in East Alabama Motor Speedway's monster truck event in Phenix City, AL. Devin drove the truck into the ground on the way to yet another freestyle win in 2008. The previous week the MEGA Monster Truck Tour was in Barbarian's home state, putting on an event at Woodward, OK's Crystal Beach Stadium. Devin made it to the semi-finals in racing, coming up just short against Larry Quick's Ghost Ryder. Those two would battle it out for the freestyle win, but in the end the Oklahoma fans were solidly behind Barbarian, putting another freestyle victory on the board for Devin Jones.
The first weekend of August would see Barbarian back on the Monster Truck Challenge series tour at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. Devin would be part of a stellar 10 truck field, and held his own against some of the sport's best. For racing, Devin would have the misfortune of going up against Bounty Hunter in the first round, as Jimmy Creten had been dominating the MTC tour this year. Creten would be too much for Devin and the rest of the field, as he went on to the overall win. Freestyle would see Devin going big in jump after jump before a near rollover left Barbarian with a flat tire and several broken parts. There was no doubt the fans enjoyed Devin and Barbarian's freestyle.
The week previous Devin had the honor of participating in the huge Monster Truck Challenge Hall of Fame race at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis. Devin would put forth a strong performance in racing, making it all the way to the semi-finals before battery issues would keep him from making the call. With the issues resolved for freestyle, Devin charged to the track and immediately began catching huge air over the big obstacles and pulled off a couple of nice slap wheelies to the delight of the 20,000+ fans.
In the first three weeks of July, the Kaboom Motorsports team stayed busy with stops in Grain Valley, MO, Amite, LA, and a July 4th event in Rushville, IL. Rushville saw Barbarian take home the wheelie contest win, runner-up in racing, and the freestyle victory. Amite would result in Devin taking two out of three freestyle wins against some tough competition from the Sudden Impact team. In Grain Valley, Barbarian would face tough competition from the 2Xtreme and Big Dawg 4x4 teams, but would turn in solid efforts in both racing and freestyle.
The previous week takes us back to just after our last update, where the Kaboom Motorsports team was preparing to take part in the Monster Truck Challenge season opener in Shakopee, MN. Devin Jones stole the spotlight Friday night, getting an early draw in freestyle and putting on what many say was the run of the night. Huge air over the bus stack, smashing through the RV camper, wheelies, and wild cyclones set the bar very high for the competition. In the end however, Jimmy Creten would get a score of 30 from the judges after a great run in Bounty Hunter. The second night, Devin was back at it, putting on another great freestyle run that ended with many broken parts on the Barbarian machine. Devin definitely served notice to the big names that Barbarian would be a truck to watch out for on the MTC tour this season.
That catches you up on all that the Kaboom Motorsports team was up to this summer. This coming weekend's Monster Truck Racing Super Series event in Springdale, AR will see an exciting new development from the team, so stay tuned for more information! Check out the Media page for a huge update, with six new photo galleries and lots of new footage in a cool new video player. Keep checking back to stay up to date with all the goings-on from Devin Jones and the Kaboom Motorsports team!!
June 16th, 2008 - The month of May saw the return of Devin Jones and Barbarian to competition!! After some time off following motor problems earlier this season, Devin returned to action the first weekend of May in Ft. Smith, AR for the Monster Truck Racing Super Series. From there, it was time for the annual hometown show at the Miami, OK Fairgrounds. The O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals was the biggest it's ever been this year in Miami, with Devin having to take on the likes of Bounty Hunter, Tail Gator and 5 other top trucks. Barbarian made a good showing Friday night, nearly taking the racing win before falling to Doug Noelke and Tail Gator in the finals. Saturday night would be a bit of a disappointment however, as after a good showing in the racing and wheelie contests, a broken tie rod would end Devin's freestyle early. After a week off, it was down to Lufkin, TX for Monster Motor Jam at the George Henderson Expo Center. There Devin put on a couple of strong freestyle runs before being bit by another broken tie rod after Saturday night's run. June started off with Barbarian back in Springdale, AR for more Monster Truck Racing Super Series action where Devin put on a couple more good freestyle runs.
The summer schedule is getting ready to heat up in a big way for the Kaboom Motorsports team, starting this weekend in Minneapolis, MN as Devin and Barbarian participate in the Monster Truck Challenge season opener at Raceway Park Shakopee. Watch for results from that event, along with new crew shirts and new t-shirts coming soon!! Check out our Schedule page to see where we're headed next, and stop by the Media page for photos & video from the Miami and Lufkin shows!!
April 15th, 2008 - Barbarian will be back on the road soon!! Devin has been working on the truck and with a new motor finally ready to go, the Kaboom Motorsports team will be back in action at the beginning of May in Ft. Smith, AR. The next weekend is the hometown show in Miami, OK where Devin will face off against heavy hitters like Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Tail Gator and War Wagon. The summer schedule is starting to take shape as well, with Devin currently on the schedule for four high profile Monster Truck Challenge events, as well as returning to Amite, LA for SMTS. Check out the Schedule page for more dates. During the layoff, Devin had the opportunity to drive the Deal Breaker monster truck for good friend Bill Payne in Lebanon, MO at the end of March. Devin managed to pull off a few wins over the course of the weekend, be sure to check out the Media page for photos and video from that event. Stay tuned for more updates as Barbarian returns to competion beginning in May!!
March 20th, 2008 - After finally working out all of the motor problems that plagued the start of 2008, Barbarian was back on the road for a tour of Texas and running strong. The first stop was Belton, TX for Checkered Flag Productions. Devin got a bad draw in racing, having to face Bigfoot in the first round each night, but in freestyle Saturday night he scored a perfect 30 after a strong run that included a huge slap wheelie and rollover. With minimal damage, the truck was back together for the next stop in Austin for MAP Motorsports. Another good weekend saw Devin make one final round appearance in racing and take another freestyle victory. After a week off, it was back to Odessa for MAP where Devin went head-to-head with Rob French and Twisted Dragon all weekend. French got the better of Devin in the finals of racing each night, but Devin had the last laugh taking both freestyle wins. From there it was on to Waco, where Barbarian would be going up against Doug Noelke in Tail Gator and Andy Hoffman in War Wagon among others. Devin grabbed his first racing win of the season in the Friday night show, taking the final round victory over rookie John White in the sharp new Brute Force truck. Doug Noelke was too much in racing Saturday night, beating Devin in the finals, but Devin closed the weeked on a high note with a great freestyle run and another win. Bad luck would strike again however, as the Friday night event in Beaumont for Rich Schaefer saw a return of engine troubles. After a first round loss to Bigfoot, Devin was putting together a good freestyle when another motor let go.
Photo Courtesy Gary Davis Now, the Kaboom Motorsports team is on the sidelines again, working on getting another motor ready for the summer. Devin will be driving Deal Breaker for good friend Bill Payne again this weekend in Lebanon, MO and will return to action in Barbarian at the beginning of May in Ft. Smith, AR. Be watching for updates from the Lebanon show after this weekend, and thanks to all of our fans for your support. Check out the Schedule page to see what we have booked for the summer, and see the Media page for some video clips from our Texas tour. Thanks for reading!!
January 22nd, 2008 - The year has gotten off to a strange start for Devin Jones and the Kaboom Motorsports team. Engine problems have plagued the Barbarian truck since our last update after the Pensacola show. Devin has gone through two motors, one during the first night of the Topeka, KS CFP event, and another in the shop without even putting the truck into gear! In the meantime, dates in Charlotte and Trenton were cancelled while Devin worked to get the truck back in top running condition. This past weekend, Devin filled in behind the wheel of good friend Bill Payne's brand new Deal Breaker monster truck at the MEGA Monster Truck Tour event in Cape Girardeau, MO. Bill was working on the new shock combination and asked Devin to drive for the weekend to help get everything set correctly. Check out the Media page for photos and video of Devin in action behind the wheel of Deal Breaker. This weekend, Barbarian is finally back on the road for six weeks straight, all in the state of Texas!! Check out our Schedule page to find out where you can see Barbarian this year, and let's finally get this year on the right track!!
November 24th, 2007 - The Southern Monster Truck Showdown in Pensacola, FL turned out to be a fun, but costly weekend for the Kaboom Motorsports team. Devin ran Barbarian hard all weekend, putting on a some great performances in the wheelie and freestyle contests, and taking runner-up to Scott Hartsock in racing Friday night. But the motor let go for good during the weekend putting an end to the fun. Regardless, Devin describes any event with the SMTS crew as more than just a show, but a family, and one he is glad to be a part of. Unfortunately the motor issues and slow delivery of parts have forced the team to back out of the previously scheduled Detroit, MI show at The Palace. However, one final date has been picked up for the last weekend of 2007 for CFP in Topeka, KS. See the Schedule page for that and the first of our 2008 dates as well. A big thanks to David Kranak for sending in photos from Pensacola, check those out in the Media section!
November 4th, 2007 - The year is winding to a close, but Devin Jones and Barbarian were running strong in Nashville, TN last weekend as the Major League of Monster Trucks rolled into Nashville Superspeedway. The event started off on a bit of a sour note for the Kaboom Motorsports team as the truck wasn't quite running at full song and Devin just missed making the sixteen truck racing field. But Barbarian would be second out in freestyle and put on a great show for the Nashville fans! Devin's freestyle run featured a great save, and despite blowing the left rear tire, Devin continued on and kept up the big moves in Barbarian. Check out photos and video from the event in our Media section! There is only one event left this season, as Barbarian will be featured at the Extreme Monster Truck Nationals at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit next month. Keep checking back as we will be releasing our 2007 schedule of events soon!
September 27th, 2007 - Devin Jones competed in his first event for the Major League of Monster Trucks in Las Vegas this past weekend, taking on 11 top trucks in racing and freestyle competitions. The night didn't start off that great for Barbarian as Devin was eliminated in the first round of racing after spinning out. The event ended on a high note as Devin put on a great freestyle for the packed crowd at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, tieing for third place overall!! See below for a video clip from YouTube.com of Devin's freestyle. Devin returns to MLMT competition in Nashville, TN October 27th.

August 26th, 2007 - Devin Jones and the Barbarian monster truck were in action at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO last night, performing at the 3rd annual Carmegeddon Eve of Destruction. Devin made it to the finals in racing against Dan Patrick in Samson, but spun out giving away the win. Freestyle would make up for the loss in racing as Devin went big, grabbing huge air off the jumps and getting a couple of tailgate dragging wheelies to win the competition over Kirk Dabney in Monster Patrol. A huge thanks to the I-70 Speedway crew for inviting us out for the weekend and for putting on a great event.
August 8th, 2007 - Barbarian will be competing in the Major League of Monster Trucks series events in Las Vegas and Nashville this fall!! The Las Vegas event is being held on Friday, September 21st on the dragstrip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the Nashville race will be October 26th-27th. Check out our Schedule for further details, and you can learn more about the Major League of Monster Trucks series by going to www.MLMT.com!!
August 5th, 2007 - Devin Jones & Barbarian were recently featured on the popular CMT Television show "Trick My Truck"!! The show's new season started off with the TMT crew setting up cars in parking lot. Why the guys asked? Because here comes "Kevin" (yeah, they messed up the name) in his big truck! They then cut to a shot of Barbarian running full tilt across the parking lot and performing some crazy leaps over the cars and wild donuts. It was a great feature and we were proud to be a part of the show. Click here to view an edited clip of the segment on CMT.com, and be sure to watch for re-airs of Episode 301, the season premiere of "Trick My Truck" on CMT to see the whole segment!!

July 27th, 2007 - Last weekend Barbarian rocked the Texas Heatwave in Austin, TX!! The custom car and truck show featured monster truck freestyle Saturday & Sunday and Devin put on a show!! Big jumps over the long set of cars, with several great saves to keep the truck from rolling, and it was another solid weekend for Barbarian. A big thanks to Bryan Wagner for photos from the show which are now posted in the Media section. Also posted are photos from Amite, LA by David Kranak, and video clips from both Austin and Amite. Head over to the Media page to see what we've been up to!!
July 17th, 2007 - Devin and Barbarian participated in their first Southern Monster Truck Showdown event this past weekend in Amita, LA at the Florida Parishes Arena. Friday night would see Devin make it to the finals in racing only to fall to Bruce Haney in Bad News. Devin put on a nice freestyle but Bruce got the nod there as well. Saturday would be a different story however, as Devin took down some tough competition in the wheelie competition and picked up the freestyle victory as well! Sunday would see Devin nearly grab a sweep of the show, starting out by winning the wheelie contest, narrowly losing to Gun Slinger in the racing finals and then putting forth an amazing freestyle to end the weekend on a winning note.
Thanks to the SMTS folks for a great weekend, we had a ton of fun. Also thanks to David Kranak for the photos from the show. Next weekend Devin and Barbarian will be at the Texas Heatwave show in Austin putting on some freestyles at the Travis County Expo Center. We'll see you there!
July 16th, 2007 - The new Barbarian T-shirt design has been completed!! The 295 Guys T-shirt folks did an awesome job on the new shirt design. We'll have them in shortly, and ordering information will be added to the website when they arrive. Stay tuned!!
